Minor Threats by Patton Oswalt Trade Paperback Book
The first creator-owned comic series from Patton Oswalt and Jordan Blum, showrunners of Marvels M.O.D.O.K. on HULU, and superstar artist Scott Hepburn (Tom Morello’s Orchid), comes this graphic crime drama about superheroes and villains and the last gasp of the colourful innocent days of the silver and bronze age before they’re dragged into the grit-soaked modern era.
In the spirit of Sin City, Watchmen, and The Boys, this gritty superhero adventure focuses on a different kind of criminal, similar to the Coen Bros’ most thrilling movies, but set in a world filled with heroes and villains. Being a supervillain is no walk in the park. I’m not talking about the world dominators, chaos creators, or arch-nemeses. I’m talking about the small-time crooks, the career criminals. They put on costumes, rob jewelry stores, and end up tied to telephone poles while the hero goes off to fight the real bad guys. Times are tough for these costumed crooks…and they’re about to get even tougher. The deranged Stickman has committed the unthinkable by killing Kid Dusk, the sidekick to Twilight City’s top crime-fighter, The Insomniac. The Insomniac’s teammates, known as The Continuum, are tearing Twilight City apart, turning it into a terrifying police state. They’re desperate to capture the Stickman and prevent The Insomniac from crossing a line of no return.
Caught in the middle are the small-time villains, struggling to pull off heists or even walk down the street without being harassed by these heroes. With a bounty on the Stickman’s head, former villain Playtime decides to assemble a motley crew of equally disgruntled supervillains to take down the Stickman and kill him themselves. This leads her on a dark journey into the criminal underworld she had tried so hard to leave behind.
This graphic crime drama explores the world of superheroes and villains, capturing the last remnants of the colorful and innocent days of the silver and bronze age…before they are dragged into the gritty and realistic modern era. The book also includes a bonus section with stunning artwork by Mike Mignola (Hellboy), Kevin Maguire (Justice League), Francesco Francavilla (The Black Beetle), and David Aja (Hawkeye).
