Formed in Australia in 1981, Hoodoo Gurus were a rock/new-wave group that stood out as one of Sydney’s best Detroit-inspired bands. From 1960s power pop and garage punk to hard rock and funky psychedelia, their music continues to bring something different and refreshing to new listener’s ears.

Released in 1994, “Crank” was the band’s sixth studio album, produced by Ed Stasium (Ramones, Living Colour etc.) who also mixed their previous studio album “Kinky” in 1991. Containing the hit tracks “The Right Time” and “Nobody”, the release ranks up there with some of the best work from the Gurus. While they largely continue their signature brand of power pop, they also introduce more of a punchier and aggressive atmosphere, showing fans that they can experiment with their style while staying true to their roots. A must have addition to the collection of long-time Hoodoo Gurus fans, and an essential release for listeners of classic Australian rock.
